AUBURN — Fire Chief Robert Chase and Fire Prevention Officer David O’Connell will welcome local families to the Fire Department’s open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Central Station, 550 Minot Ave.

The open house commemorates National Fire Safety Month. Participants will receive fire safety tips and have the opportunity to visit with on-duty firefighters; get an up-close look at firetrucks and ambulances; use a charged fire hose; try on firefighter gear; and enjoy the bounce house.

Papa Gino’s, the Dedham, Massachusetts-based pizza chain, will provide free pizza and children’s fire safety coloring sheets. There will also be goodies and balloons available for children, along with a free raffle for door prizes. Visitors can get their blood pressure checked, visit with the Auburn Police Department and see Squad 51 from the TV show “Emergency!”
