FARMINGTON — A Brewer man is being held at the Franklin County jail on a charge of sexually abusing a girl in Jay in January 2017.
Adam B. Carrick, 36, was arrested Sunday in Hancock County on a Jay Police Department warrant issued in August. He is charged with unlawful sexual contact of a girl under age 15, according to officials.
Carrick appeared in an Ellsworth court Thursday before being brought to the Franklin County Jail, where he was being held on $10,000 cash bail Friday night, a jailer said.
According to the affidavit, the girl was abused several times on or about Jan. 1, 2017.
Jay Police Chief Richard Caton IV received a Maine Department of Health and Human Services referral from Franklin County District Attorney’s Office on July 13. The child was interviewed July 19 at the Chidren’s Advocacy Center in Farmington by Franklin County Detective Kenneth Charles while Caton and a DHHS representative observed, according to the police affidavit.
A conviction for unlawful sexual contact is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.
