MEDWAY — A Winslow man was killed Friday night when the vehicle he was driving hit a moose on Interstate 95 in Medway.
Donnie Wilcox, 54, struck the moose while traveling in the southbound lane, two miles south of the Medway exit, state police said in a statement.
The impact of the crash threw the moose into the windshield and peeled back the roof of the car.
Wilcox died at the scene. Passers-by found the crash shortly after it happened, but there were no witnesses.
It was the first fatal crash involving a moose and a vehicle in 2018 in Maine.
