LIVERMORE — There are lots of spooky features, including zombies and werewolves, to be seen along a haunted trail being built as a fundraiser for the Spruce Mountain High School Class of 2020.

Merry St. Pierre and a couple of family members of the Class of 2020 worked Monday on preparing the Haunted Trail of Livermore.

The trail will be open from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, at the home of Merry and Jeff St. Pierre at 97 River Road. It will continue on Friday and Saturday nights until Oct. 27. It will also be open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31.

A less scary walk for children will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Halloween night. The cost is $5 per person

The event is in its ninth year. The St. Pierres and their daughter LaDesta are involved in creating the spooky setting that winds through the garage, the backyard, a house, and around to the front yard.

Planning starts months ahead, Merry St. Pierre said.

Students and their families are involved to get the trail ready. 

St. Pierre has nine large totes of costumes and lots of scary items to use on the trail. The first room is a scene from the movie “Saw.” From there, visitors walk into the backyard to a zombie area. 

“Each area has its own theme,” St. Pierre said.

They include spiders, werewolves, a butcher shop, a body room, cannibals, clowns, scarecrows, a psyche ward and a nursery. The walk continues into the kitchen, witches room, hospital, pet cemetery, maze, freak show. There are also areas for circus, torture, toxic waste, a haunted campsite, Cursed Corner Cemetery, which includes a hearse, autopsy room and hell. 

Strobe lights and scary sounds add to the experience.

Audrey Bamford of Fayette, grandmother of class President Melissa Bamford, was hanging up costumes in the garage Monday. 

“She does an amazing job,” Audrey said of St. Pierre. 

Advance tickets are $13 and can be obtained by emailing merrystpierre@gmail.com. The cost is $15 at the gate.
