Many people share the weariness of the season as the airwaves are flooded with political ads. I am particularly struck this year by the negative campaign being waged against Jared Golden, Democratic contender for the Second Congressional District. His detractors have even set up a website, deceptively titled “jaredgoldenforme,” to spout the same inflammatory “Nancy Pelosi” references that is shown in television ads. It’s the first thing found if one Googles his name. He is portrayed as a “dangerous liberal” and “too scary for Maine.”
In fact, Golden is one of the more moderate Democrats to come along in a long time, which I appreciate. He does not rubber-stamp liberal policies and has a record of getting things done with help from all sides. His stands on the issues are thoughtful and reasonable.
I will cast my vote for Jared Golden on Nov. 6.
