Janet Mills will be a fierce advocate for education as Maine governor. As the state attorney general, Mills has directed funds to programs that benefit public school students in Maine. She has gone on the record pledging to fully fund education, which is especially important in a lower-income community such as Lewiston.

As local Lewiston taxpayers struggle to shoulder the increasing burden of funding local schools, Mills advocates a reversal of the LePage administration’s cuts to state funding for education, which will provide property tax relief for Lewiston residents.

I am a local educator and I have no doubt that Janet Mills will make strengthening Maine schools a priority as governor.
