American health care requires significant improvement. Countless individuals and families in need either do not have the money or the access to resources to meet their medical needs. Question 1 in November, a universal home care-for-all initiative, would be a logical step in the right direction for the elderly, folks with disabilities and for many veterans.

When I think of what universal home care would do for Maine, I think of people such as my wife and myself. We are residents of rural Maine — an area where many individuals do not have access to what they need to stay healthy.

I would like to think that when my wife and I are of age, we will be able to live in our home as we have planned. That is why I will be voting “yes” on Question 1. Everyone in Maine deserves to live out their days as they choose.
