In this country, today, the political parties — both Republicans and Democrats — are at a crossroad of international strife and indecision and are unable to make sound decisions. With integrity at low tide, they are sinking deeper and deeper into a depravity that this country has never seen before. What a joke.

Members of the House and Senate should have been role models for the public, but with the attitudes, dispositions and conduct of cut throats, they make a mockery of the American people and a mockery of the American way of life.

In the vicissitudes of the life of political, big business and big money enterprises, there are times when those who succumb to the diseases of great wealth (also known as selfishness, avarice and greed) become blind and with great distress.

With the anger, hatred, jealousy, distrust, resentment and all manner of ill-will comes the frustration laid on the backs of the American working class. In this economy, there is much money for big corporations and conglomerates, but the working man and the working class are losing jobs and are paid too little.

There is great disrespect for the working class from corporate America. That is not a judgment; I accuse no one. That is just what I believe.

Stephen McDonald, Rumford
