Why are you running for the Androscoggin County Commission? I have always been active in the community over the years and I have more time to give now that I am retired.
What skills do you bring to the role of commissioner? I am very familiar with local and county government working as the public safety director for the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department for over 31 years and serving on the Board of Selectmen for town of Poland for over five years.
What is the biggest challenge facing the county, and how would you solve it? One of the biggest challenges is the county jail with its overcrowding and funding. The other is the aging county building, which needs a great number of updates, while trying to keep the county taxes at a livable rate. We need to work at getting other sources of funding, including federal grants.
