George C. Perry Sr.

1933 – 2018

 Litchfield – George C. Perry Sr. 85, a resident of Litchfield, passed away on Sunday, October 28th, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 18, 1933 in Litchfield, Maine, the son of Waldo Perry and Geraldine (Stone) Perry Shepherd.  He was educated in the Litchfield schools.  George proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On November 25, 1954, he married Edna Morris in Turner.   George was a construction heavy equipment operator for H. E. Callahan Construction Company and he also worked for the City of Auburn.   He owned and operated George C. Perry & Son Trucking Company in Turner, Maine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to Oxford Speedway and Wiscasset Raceway.    George was a member of the American Legion William R Bold Post #181 in Litchfield, a member of the V.F.W.  Post in Canton, a past master of the Wales Grange and a captain of the Turner Volunteer Fire Department. George was a member and a former deacon of the East Auburn Baptist Church.  He leaves behind his loving wife, Edna Perry of Litchfield, a son, George C. Perry Jr. and his girlfriend, Carol Barrington of Brunswick, two daughters; Cyncelia Perry of Poland, Becky Sue Perry of Litchfield, a dear family friend ,Virginia McAlister, 4 grandsons; Justin, Jacoby, Jeremy and Jesse, 3 great-grandchildren, three brothers; Roxy Perry and wife Jean of Litchfield, Jerome Perry and wife Irene of Oxford, Mike Perry and Margie of Litchfield , sisters-in-law; Sandy, Kathy, Marilyn, Carol and June, his baby “Precious” and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, five brothers; Charles Perry, Ralph Perry, Jeff Perry, Wally Shepherd and Bill Shepherd.  George C. Perry, Sr. 85, of Litchfield, Maine. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral service from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Litchfield Plains Cemetery, Plains Road, Litchfield, Maine.  If desired, contributions may be sent to the American Legion William R Bold Post #181, Building Fund, 235 Plains Road, Litchfield, Maine  04350.
