HARRISON — Voters approved an ordinance Tuesday to share an animal control officer with neighboring Bridgton.
The vote was 1,008 to 207.
Selectmen were authorized to enter into a three-year agreement for joint funding of salary, benefits and expenses for the officer.
Town officials have said it is challenging to find someone with a flexible schedule who is willing to be on call around the clock.
Voters also approved amendments to three ordinances:
• The Street Name and Numbering Ordinance amendment brings it into compliance with state laws for the E911 system and provides penalties for noncompliance. The vote: 1,079 to 157.
• The Fireworks Ordinance gives guidelines for enforcement. The vote: 893-335.
• The Dog Ordinance amendment brings it in line with state laws and gives guidelines for handling nuisance and dangerous dogs. The vote: 1,008 to 219.
