LEWISTON – Raymond C. Godbout, 59, passed away Friday evening, Nov. 2, 2018, at his home with loving family by his side.

Ray was born in Lewiston April 18, 1959, the first of five children to Claude and Rita (Guerin) Godbout.  He attended catholic and Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1977.

With a strong work ethic established at a young age, he began his flooring career in the Lewiston/Auburn area after a short stay in Oklahoma.  He was employed by many local flooring businesses, as an installer, before opening G&G Flooring in 1992, which he owned and operated for over 25 years.  His dedication to quality craftsmanship and a “job done right” was evident to all those around him.

Ray met the love of his life, Shelly Cote, in 1988. They married July 24, 1992, and together raised three children: Jen, Zach, and Shae.  A true lover of life, Ray enjoyed any time spent with his family. A family man at heart, he didn’t limit himself to blood; anyone he welcomed into the family was truly honored to be a part of his life.

He was an avid outdoorsman spending many summers and fall days with family and friends at the ocean, hunting, camping, and boating. He enjoyed leisurely drives and hikes through the Maine and New Hampshire woods. Most recently he rekindled his passion for riding and loved being out on the open road on his Harley.

His quick wit and zest for life will be missed.
