PARIS — Selectmen voted 4-1 on Thursday evening to terminate Town Manager Vic Hodgkins’ contract, which was due to expire in September 2021, Selectmen Scott Buffington said.

The vote came two days after the board voted 3-2 to immediately put Hodgkins on paid administrative leave for 10 days.

In Thursday’s vote, Chairman Rusty Brackett was the lone dissenter. Buffington, Gary Vaughn, John Andrews and Chris Summers voted for the termination.

The vote came after an executive session to discuss personnel issues and contract negotiations, Buffington said.

Police Chief Skip Mowatt will serve as interim manager, Buffington said. Public Works Director Jamie Hutchinson will be interim road commissioner and Town Clerk Liz Knox will serve as interim tax collector.

The board has declined to comment on Hodgkins’ issues, saying only that the decision to place him on paid administrative leave followed a Nov. 9 executive session at which town officials discussed personnel issues.

Hodgkins was serving as a selectman when he resigned to take the town manager’s position in September 2016 and was given a five-year contract.
