I am so happy that the great state of Maine has embraced the ranked choice voting system and that its administration was implemented flawlessly. I hope that many other states take Maine’s lead, since it is the fairest way to conduct an election.

Both parties should be happy that a candidate can win despite a “spoiler” candidate in the race. And winning by more than 50 percent ensures that the will of the majority of the state’s citizens will be fulfilled.

It is so easy to vote this way, especially since there is an option not to use the ranking at all.

I only hope that Maine’s Constitution can be amended so that ranked choice voting will be applied to other races as well.
