AUBURN — The Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland Red Hornets scored three goals in the first and third periods to earn a 6-2 girls’ hockey win over Greely/Gray-New Gloucester on Saturday.

The Red Hornets (3-0) were led by two goals apiece from Taylor Cailler and Caroline Audette. Sophia Hartley and Brianna Doucette also scored for EL.

Greely/Gray-New Gloucester (0-2) received goals from Jayme Morrison and Madison Pelletier.

Lewiston 6, Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland 1

CAPE ELIZABETH — Gemma Landry had a pair of first-period goals as the Blue Devils (3-0) jumped to a 4-0 lead and cruised past Capers (1-2) in girls’ hockey action Saturday.

Lea Landry and Katie Lemieux each had a goal and a pair of assists for Lewiston. Brianne Dube and Sara Robert rounded the scoring.

Nicoletta Coupe had a third-period goal on a feed from Sophia Venditti for Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland.

Women’s basketball

St. Joseph’s 93, Bates 71

STANDISH — Emily Benway had 24 points and 12 rebounds as the Monks (6-0) beat the Bobcats (3-1) on Saturday.

Kelsi McNamara also added 20 points and 12 assists, while Julia Champagne had 15 points and Jordan Jabar 11 for St. Joseph’s.

With a fourth-quarter layup, Benway became the 24th player in St. Joseph’s history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.

Freshman Mia Roy scored 22 points for Bates, while Erika Lamere had 12, Melanie Binkhorst 11 and Amaari Williams 10.

Men’s basketball

St. Joseph’s 82, Bates 58

STANDISH — Marc Corey scored 27 points and Jack Casale added 15 as the Monks (5-2) beat the Bobcats (2-4) on Saturday.

Ian Mileikis added 14 points for St. Joseph’s.

Nick Lynch had 16 points for Bates, while Malik Velmar added 11.

Men’s hockey

Maine 3, Vermont 3

BURLINGTON, Vt. — The University of Maine men’s hockey team gave up a pair of leads in the third period, but held on for a 3-3 tie with the University of Vermont on Saturday.

Maine (5-7-2, 3-3-2 Hockey East) went up 2-1 when Eduards Tralmaks scored with 10:08 left in regulation. Vermont (4-7-1, 1-6-1) tied it on a goal by Joey Cipollone less than a minute later, but the Black Bears took the lead again when Tralmaks scored his second goal with 9:18 left. Max Kaufman scored with 3:43 left to send it to overtime.

Vermont’s Liam Coughlin and Maine’s Brady Keeper traded goals in the first period.

Women’s hockey

Vermont 3, Maine 2

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Maude Poulin-Labelle scored the go-ahead goal in the second period as the Catamounts (4-9-4, 3-7-2 Hockey East) beat the Black Bears (10-7-1, 4-7-1) on Saturday.

Olivia Kilberg and Saana Valkama also scored for Vermont.

Alyson Matteau and Anna Zikova scored for UMaine.
