AUBURN — An ambulance responding to a rescue call was involved in an accident Monday night on Center Street.

The ambulance and a Dodge Durango SUV collided in front of NAPA Auto Parts at 325 Center St. at about 8 p.m., according to police.

Traffic was down to one lane as fire engines and police worked to clear the scene.

There were no injuries to the driver or occupants of the ambulance. A 72-year-old male complained of chest pain at the scene, as did a 70-year-old female.

Both occupants of the Durango were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewsiton for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
