Warm clothing give away rescheduled

FARMINGTON — The Fairbanks Union Church’s warm clothing give away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, was rescheduled due to inclement weather. The event has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 11, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Fairbanks School Meeting House at 508 Fairbanks Road.

This will include coats, jackets, hats, gloves, shoes, scarves, blankets, some bedding and more. For donations or more information, call  207-778-4349, 207-779-1171 or 207-778-3808. They will pick up donations within a 10-mile radius of Farmington.

Library to host reading, book-signing

WILTON — Local author and ski enthusiast Megan Roberts will present her new book, “Titcomb, a Mountain of Ski Memories,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Wilton Free Public Library, 6 Goodspeed St.

Roberts will read from her book, answer questions and talk all things Titcomb. She will also sign copies of her book, available for purchase. The event is free and open to the public.

Christmas concert returns to Casco church

CASCO — The Casco Village Church UCC’s annual Christmas concert will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the church, 941 Meadow Road (Route 121).

The church choir, directed by Eugene Long and accompanied by Lynn Foss, will also feature special guest instrumentalists. Admission is free. There will be a goodwill offering and refreshments after the concert in the Great Hall.

Society to hold Christmas party

MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will gather in the Calvin Lyons Hall at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, for the annual Christmas celebration.

There will be a potluck supper. Invited guests include the Rumford, Dixfield, Peru and Canton Historical Societies. Attendees can bring a nonperishable food to donate to the food pantry in place of a gift exchange.

In the case of inclement weather, the meeting will be the following Monday, Dec. 17.

Bethel church to hold Living Nativity

BETHEL — The Bethel Alliance Church, 251 Walker Mills Road, will present a Living Nativity at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.

This re-enactment of the Nativity story is free and open to the public. Cookies and hot cocoa will be served at the Moses Mason House at Broad and Mason streets afterward.

Rumford library to hold holiday raffle

RUMFORD — The Friends of the Rumford Public Library have put together a holiday raffle basket as a fundraiser to support the library.

This basket includes the library’s signature book bag, a book or two, fleece blanket, goodies, passes to Black Mountain of Maine and gift cards from other local businesses, to name just some of the items.

Raffle tickets for the holiday basket are available at the circulation desk and cost $1 each or $5 for six. The drawing to be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20. The library is at 56 Rumford Ave. For more information, call 207-364-3661.

Canton society to hold open house

CANTON — The Canton Historical Society will hold a Holiday Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at 25 Turner St.

There will be hot chocolate and cookies available, as well as shopping in the Country Store. All proceeds from sales go directly to support the history of the town. Some items in the store include handmade items from crafters, original works from artists, balsam fir pillows, maple syrup bottled locally, calendars, books, postcards and much more.

The museum will also be open where you can browse through our collection and learn more of our rich history. The whole family can participate in making crafts and playing games, and at 2 p.m. there will be a holiday sing-along. This event is free and open to the public.

Nonprofits can host free events at theater

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Friends of the Arts has received a grant from the Morton-Kelly Charitable Trust to allow local, Rangeley-region-based nonprofit, charitable or civic organizations to host their events at the RFA Lakeside Theater at no cost in 2019.

The theater spaces include the auditorium with seating for up to 181, the lobby and flex room with the Lakeside Contemporary Art Gallery’s exhibits for receptions, and the concession area with small kitchen. All public spaces in the theater are handicap accessible.
