Lewiston High School Athletic Director Jason Fuller, right, introduces Fern Masse during a dedication ceremony prior to the start of the Blue Devils boys’ basketball game in Lewiston on Friday. The basketball court recently received a new surface and the gym floor was formally dedicated in honor of Masse as “Coach Masse Court.” Masse coached the Blue Devils boys’ team from 1961-74 and 1977-88, amassing more than 250 wins — the most in program history. He was an assistant on the 1960 team that won the program’s lone state championship. Masse went on to become the school’s athletic director. Family and players of Masse traveled from Florida, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine to attend the ceremony that honored a man who most refer to as “Coach.” (Daryn Slover/Sun Journal)

Paul Amnott, Mark Anthoine, Tim Masse and Lewiston High School Athletic Director Jason Fuller spoke during the dedication ceremony. Amnott and Anthoine played basketball for Fern Masse at LHS. Tim Masse is Fern Masse’s son. (Daryn Slover/Sun Journal)
