AUBURN — Police said an Auburn man was arrested on a drunken-driving charge Monday night after his car struck a fence at an Academy Street home.

According to a police report, Thomas Hird, 25, of 14 Cleveland Ave., was heading south on Pleasant Street at about 9:45 p.m. when his 2013 Honda crossed onto Elm Street, swerved erratically, and damaged a fence and a tree at 88 Academy St.

Hird was arrested at the scene.
