WOODSTOCK – Ilona Mae Farrar, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 6, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.  She was born on April 19, 1943, in Lewiston, the daughter of Toini and Toivo Piirainen and she was educated in Maine schools. Ilona held a variety of jobs over her career and retired as a Manager with the Department of Health and Human Services. Ilona married Vernon Linwood Farrar on Christmas Eve, 1960.  They raised three beautiful daughters and welcomed numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren into the world.  They were married for 37 years until Vernon passed away in 1997.

Ilona enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing with her husband, hiking Streaked Mountain with her daughters, sisters, nieces and nephews as well as reading and spending time with her dog, Bella.  Her family was very important to her and she spent a lot of time with them.

Ilona leaves behind her daughter, Toini Lynn Farrar and husband, Charles Smith; Brenda Maiorino and husband Frank Maiorino and Lisa Mack and husband Ricky Mack. She also leaves behind her granddaughters Jennifer, Megan, Randi, Jaymi, Courtney and Christina and great grandchildren Lexi, Aleah, Wyatt, Kellin, Liliana, Leevi, Leukas and one more baby on the way.  Ilona was one of 12 children and is survived by three sisters, Sandra Cyr, Anita Leland and Fredericka Collins.

Ilona would have preferred a private service and therefore the family will come together to celebrate her life, date and time to follow.
