NORWAY — For the seventh year, the Oxford County Republican Committee (OCRC) is offering a scholarship to a deserving high school, prep school or trade school student who resides, and attends school, in Oxford County or who is home-school and resides in Oxford County.

This $500 scholarship is awarded annually to that student who, in the eyes of the Scholarship Committee, best exemplifies Republican ideals and values in his/her life as well as having accomplished a high academic performance and has been enthusiastically involved in community service.

This scholarship will be valid towards a continuing education at a two-year or four-year college program or an accredited trade school. The recipient need not be required to continue his/her education at a Maine-based institute of higher learning but the student’s choice of a school in Maine will certainly be given serious consideration.

The Oxford County high school and prep school principals and headmasters have been made aware of the existence of this scholarship and have applications available for any interested party. If a student chooses, an application form may be provided if he/she sends a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Thomas H. L. Curtis, P.O. Box# 67, Norway, ME 04268 requesting same. Additionally, should a student wish to obtain more details of this scholarship, one may only write Mr. Curtis asking for same.

All completed applications must be received by Mr. Curtis no later than March 31, 2019; this is being emphasized as an application postmarked by that date, but not received, will not be considered. The recipient of the scholarship will be notified and asked to be present to accept his/her scholarship, with family members present, at an Oxford County GOP meeting tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at a location to be given when scheduled. At this meeting, the recipient will receive a card-board replica of a $500 check with the actual monies not being given until his/her first semester grades have been received by Mr. Curtis.
