After Jeremy Rancourt scored for the Thunder 5:09 into the opening period, the Cyclones (19-3) responded with a goal by Ryo Namiki five minutes later and two more from Phillip Vanderlaat and Alex Laplante in the second period to take a 3-1 lead.

Twin City’s Rease Hubert scored less than 30 seconds after Laplante’s goal to cut Northern’s lead to 3-2, but Laplante added a third-period tally in the fourth.
