LEWISTON – Stanley F. Barnies Jr., 64, also known as “Stan the Man”, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at Central Maine Medical Center, with his loving family by his side, following a short illness.

He was born in Lewiston, on May 24, 1954, the son of the late Stanley F. Sr. and Blanche (Bennett) Barnies and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He was educated in Lewiston schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1972.

He served with the reserves in the Army National Guard.

He was employed as a foreman for forty years at IRC Roofing Co.

Stanley enjoyed sports. The Maine Black Bears basketball team and the Miami Dolphins football team were his favorites.

He is survived by three sons, Troy Barnies of the country of Norway, and Travis Barnies and Matt Coolidge, both of Auburn, one daughter, Carrie Barnies of Auburn; three grandchildren, Devaunte Rembert, Gavin Coolidge and Demarion Baker, all of Auburn; four brothers, Charles Barnies and his wife, Diane, Adam Barnies and his wife, Tina, Michael Barnies and his wife, Donna and Bill Barnies, all of Lewiston, seven sisters, Sheila Barnies of Lewiston, Blanche Levesque of South Carolina, Martha Fortin and her husband, Dan of Lewiston, Melody Poisson and her husband, Jerry of Epping, N.H., and Nellie Levesque and her husband, Raymond of Las Vegas, Nev., Tammy St. Amant and her husband, John of Lewiston and Mary Howes of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a brother, Steven Barnies and a brother-in-law, Rick Howes.

Funeral services honoring Stanley’s life will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Committal services will then follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
