Lewiston stores will be closed New Years Day, this was decided at a meeting of the Ad Men’s bureau Monday morning in the Chamber of Commerce rooms. There were twelve or fifteen members present as the two-hour discussion took place. Not all the members were in favor at the start, for closing, but the movement was made unanimous before the close of the meeting. It was felt that Lewiston should join Portland, Bangor and other Maine cities on New Years Day as a matter of local pride. The banks and the post office are closed, as it is a legal holiday. It was also voted to keep the stores open Tuesday evening, New Year’s Eve. Several members who could not be present telephoned or were telephoned to agreed to abide by the decision of the meeting.
