LEWISTON — Police are investigating a suspicious item found Friday in a Bates College locker room.
The item was reported to the Bates Department of Security and Campus Safety, which investigated before calling local police, according to Sean Findlen, a spokesman for the college.
Bates officials are working closely with local police “to understand the nature of the device and its functionality,” Findlen said.
“Providing a safe and secure environment for everyone on our campus is of paramount importance to all of us at Bates,” Findlen said.
“As we learn more from the police investigation, we will provide appropriate updates to the Bates community.”
Local police could not be reached for comment.
