WEST PARIS — Worship services at the First Universalist Church of West Paris are at 9 a.m. Sundays with refreshments afterward. All are welcome.

Jan. 6: “The Big Heart of Universalism” led by The Rev. Fayre Stephenson. People live in divided and wounded times and seek paths for healing. At this service, the church will look to Universalist roots while seeking the courage, conviction and stamina to speak up and stand up for values and beliefs — those principles that give the religion its large heart and enduring beauty.

Jan. 13: Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, dog lover and storyteller Davy Sturtevant will lead the service with an inspiring message in words and music as we begin the new year.

Jan. 20: “The Dream and the Dreamer” led by The Rev. Fayre Stephenson. While celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on this Sunday the focus of this service will consider Dr. King’s evolving vision of freedom and equality in American society.

Jan. 27: “Choosing Wholeness” led by guest speaker The Rev. William Campbell. This worship service is based on the story of Naaman, contained in the book of II Kings, chapter 5:1-19. Rev. “Scott” is a retired United Methodist pastor living on Paris Hill with his wife, Lin, and two grandsons. He served churches in Paris, France, Brussels, Belgium and Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Harvard Divinity School for 22 years. His Maine roots go back to the early 1960s, when his parents bought a home in Winthrop. He will be teaching a course in the spring at the Harvard Divinity School. Jan. 27 is also bring-a-friend-to-church Sunday.
