Bates scored six straight points to end the game to beat Colby 54-47 in Lewiston on Saturday.

Meghan Graff had a game-high 17 points for Bates (5-5, 1-1 NESCAC), while Julia Middlebrook added 10. Taylor McVeigh grabbed 11 rebounds.

Jackie Albanese scored 11 points and Katie McCrum had 10 for Colby (5-7, 0-2).

Maine 84, Maryland-Baltimore County 44

Parise Rossignol scored 16 of her game-high 19 points in the first half and the Black Bears (9-6, 2-0 America East) cruised past the Retrievers (7-7, 0-1) at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

The Black Bears made 15 3-pointers and the margin of victory was their largest since a 96-54 win over Robert Morris in 2002.

Reserve Kelly Fogarty chipped in 14 points for Maine.

Tyler Moore led UMBC with 11 points.

Men’s basketball

Bates 81, Colby 71

Kody Greenhalgh scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half as the Bobcats (3-10, 1-1 NESCAC) beat the Mules (9-3, 1-1) in Waterville.

Jeff Spellman and Tom Coyne each had 15 points for Bates, and Nick Gilpin added 14.

Matt Hanna scored 25 points for Colby.

Maryland-Baltimore County 61, Maine 52

The Retrievers (9-7, 1-0 America East) used a 16-4 run late in the game to come from behind and beat the Black Bears (2-14, 0-1) in Catonsville, Maryland.

Brandon Hovarth had nine of his 13 points in the second half for UMBC. Daniel Akin added 12 and Joe Sherburne 10.

Andrew Fleming had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Maine. Sergio El Darwich added 12 points and Isaiah White 11.

Women’s hockey

Maine 1, Boston 0

Michelle Weis scored the only goal of the game late in the third period as the Black Bears (12-7-1, 5-7-1 Hockey East) beat the Terriors (8-6-5, 5-5-4) in Orono.

Anna Zikova had an assist on the goal.

Carly Jackson made 26 saves to earn her first shutout of the season. It was the fifth shutout of her career.

Corrinne Schroeder had 21 saves for Boston University.
