DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Gina Mason Moxie Memorial Moxie Parade, to be held during the 37th Lisbon Falls Moxie Festival on July 13 at 10 a.m., will have floats, clowns, many Kora units, music and more. Our goal this year is to have our biggest parade yet and we want everyone to take part. In keeping with the mood of the festival, we encourage all parade units to show their Moxie by flying flags or banners in Moxie orange, wearing the Moxie colors or representing the this year’s chosen theme, “Moxie Goes Artsy.”

The deadline for registering to participate in the parade is Friday, June 28. For more information about this year’s Moxie Parade contact: Allen Ward, Co-Parade Chairman, Town of Lisbon, 300 Lisbon St., Lisbon, ME 04250. The number to call is 207-576-6016 or you can email him at allenward109@gmail.com. The registration forms and more information are on the web at moxiefestival.com. The Moxie Festival also has a Facebook page.

ANSWER: Spread the word and let’s make this the best Moxie Festival ever! The Moxie committee is already working very hard to put this event in motion. Get your Moxie on and get involved.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Dan McDonald and I worked together as reporters at the Virginia Pilot in the 1970s and became good friends. He later took a job with Stars and Stripes and was stationed in Japan. While he was there, we exchanged dozens of friendly letters between pals, and I’ve kept them all these years.

Recently, when packing to move to Maine, I came across the bundle of letters and Dan’s obituary. I hadn’t realized he had moved to Maine, where he worked as a senior editor at the Sun Journal. He died in the early 1990s, and I’d like to get these wonderful letters to his family. If anyone knows how to reach Dan’s family, please call me at 207-833-3385. He was a dear friend and I’d like to share these memories with his family.

ANSWER: Well! This brought tears to my eyes on this cold winter’s day. I really want Connie to complete this mission of finding the home for Dan’s letters. We all will want to know what happens.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the Jan. 16 Sun Spots about where to fill gallon jugs for drinking water, a Glacier water machine is still at Hannaford on Sabattus St. It was down briefly during renovations, but has been available for a while now.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your columns and find them to be very helpful and interesting. I’d like to know if there is anyone who has a VCR with both VHS and DVD that they don’t need any more and would be willing to sell to me. I can’t get out much and can’t find one. Please call 207-782-8663. Thank you.

ANSWER: These can be found on Amazon and eBay, but most models are costly. It would be wonderful if someone in Sun Spots Land has one in good working condition for this reader. Fingers crossed!
