MECHANIC FALLS — Regional School Unit 16 Adult Education has announced upcoming adult ed community classes. Classes are held at 129 Elm St. unless otherwise noted.

Chalk Painting — 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, March 4 and 11. Bring a small piece of wooden furniture and give it the vintage, cottage, antique or modern look desired. A supply list will be provided upon registration. $25. 

College Transitions — 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Thursdays beginning Jan. 24 for 14 weeks. The free program is designed to help prepare, both academically and financially, to be successful in college. 

Computer Classes — From computer basics to Microsoft applications and Google, a variety of computer classes designed to meet personal and workforce needs are available. Drop-in Computer Lab visits are also available on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. through Feb. 13. Call for more details or visit the website for a wide range of options.

Customer Service and Retail Fundamentals — During the month of March, an intensive Customer Service and Retail Training, which provides the opportunity to earn nationally recognized retail credentials, as well as a WorkReady certificate and digital literacy skills, will be held. Eating Healthier — 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31. This is for people planning a healthier start to 2019 and need some tips for making better choices and healthier snack. It will be lead by the RSU 16 food service director. Learn about making better, more sensible choices to help those resolutions stick. $7.

Essential Oils — 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. Learn about the impact of household toxins and receive some tips for detoxing the home with essential oils to build a healthier environment. Leave with at least two do-it-yourself items that can be put to use right away and recipes for many more. $16.

Food Restrictions and Dietary Needs — 6:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. From vegan to dairy-free and gluten-free, participants will learn some fun recipes and substitutions to accommodate these dietary needs. Enjoy some snacks and get some meal prep ideas. $14.

Drop in for Tai Chi sessions on Tuesdays through May 28 from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., for $5 per class. Try Yoga on Mondays through May 20 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m., for $8 per class. Bring a mat, water and a blanket. Held at Elm Street School Gymnasium.

TechHire Maine — Call for more information about this opportunity for qualifying high school graduates who have an interest in computers and want to work in middle- or high-skill, tech-based jobs.

Regional School Unit 16 Adult Education can also help adults find a new career, prepare for college or finish high school.
