AUGUSTA -The candidates have been chosen for a special election for the Maine House District 124 seat.

This House seat, which covers parts of Bangor and Orono, was previously held by Rep. Aaron Frey of Bangor, who was elected by the Legislature to the position of attorney general, on Dec. 5. That led to caucuses being held last week.

Both Democrats and Republicans selected men from Bangor to run. For the Democrats, former lawmaker Joe Perry will be the candidate; Republicans chose Thomas White. Orono’s Daniel LaPointe, who lost to Frey in November, had sought the seat but was denied the opportunity at the Republican caucus.

The special election will be held on March 12.
