AUBURN — Islanders Hockey Club scored back-to-back power play goals in the third period and held on to defeat the Twin City Thunder, 4-3, in USPHL junior hockey action at Norway Savings Bank Arena on Saturday night.

Alex Schneider scored a goal and assisted on another as the Thunder finished the first period with a 2-1 lead. Tanner McClure tied it for IHC 13:35 into the second period. 

Logan Fennema notched the Islanders’ first power play goal to give them a 3-2 lead 2:47 into the third period. Justin Stairs added another power play goal with 8:46 remaining to make it 4-2.

Zachary Desmarais scored the game’s final goal for the Thunder with seven seconds left.

Jonathan Courchesne also scored for IHC.

Ryan Kenny stopped 25 shots to earn the win in net for the Islanders. Jaxon Friedman made 38 saves for the Thunder.
