BATH — Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District, in cooperation with Maine DEP, is offering Basic & Advanced Erosion and Sediment Control Practices training next month.

It will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 13, at Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St. in Bath. Registration is $75 and is due by March 1.

Registration includes breakfast refreshments, lunch and all training materials. 

Training topics will include why erosion control is needed, laws and regulations requiring erosion control practices, erosion and sedimentation, erosion control best management practices and planning, pollution prevention at construction sites. Also, erosion control plan design, and the next steps in obtaining certification.

Attendance will qualify for Maine DEP certification in erosion and sediment control practices after completion of a site evaluation. The training also provides recertification for those who have already completed the program.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection developed a training program on effective erosion control techniques to help contractors and those involved with shoreland zoning, comply with this law.
