Henriette A. Dostie

LEWISTON – Henriette A. Dostie, 78, gracefully passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.Born in St. Robert, Quebec, Canada on Jan. 24, 1941, to Marie Jeanne and Henri Lachance, she grew up on a farm with her parents and her siblings: Gisele, Clement, Louisette, Gaetan, Raymond, Michel, and Terry. She studied at Ecole-Normale to become a school teacher. In 1960, she moved to Lewiston with her family. Not long after, she met her love, Normand Dostie, who also previously resided in Canada, and they were later married on July 1, 1963 at St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston. She loved her family, especially her two daughters, Linda and Brigitte, and her three grandchildren, Chantal, Jaidan, and Ava. It wasn’t just her own children that she loved though, as she ran her own daycare in her home for many years, in addition to school teaching and homemaking. Her devotion to Christ, her family, and praying for others would be impossible to replicate, and her wise words of love and advice have touched the lives of many. Many of her Saturday nights were spent playing games of Tuck with her husband and their best friends. On other days, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, cross-country skiing, and without a doubt reading her Bible. To say that she was loved by her family and friends would be an understatement, and she will be missed by so many. She is survived by her husband, Normand Dostie and many of her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Gisele Grenier, Clement and Mary Ann Lachance, Louisette Dunlany, Gaetan and Lise Lachance, Francine Lachance, Michel and Christine Lachance, and Terry Lachance and Melissa Manthorne. She also leaves behind her two children and their spouses: Linda Jordan-Fecteau and her husband Shaun Fecteau, and Brigitte and Jason Schlosser; and her grandchildren, Chantal Jordan, Jaidan Schlosser, and Ava Schlosser. In addition to this, she is survived by many of her nieces and nephews. You are invited to join us in celebrating the beautiful life of Henriette Dostie on Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at Pathway Vineyard Church on 9 Foss Rd. in Lewiston. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7.
