FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Brett Dillon scored 4:37 into overtime to lift the New Jersey Rockets over the Twin City Thunder, 5-4, at the USPHL’s President’s Day Showcase Showcase on Sunday.

Robert Haak assisted on Dillon’s overtime winner after scoring the game-tying goal midway through the third period. Haak also assisted on David Cicak’s goal 37 seconds prior, with the Rockets trailing 4-2.

The Thunder scored the game’s first three goals, starting with Derric Trudeau’s tally from Zachary Desmarais and Nicolas Garneau in the first period. Alex Schneider and Desmarais added second-period goals before the Rockets responded with two goals of their own (Vance Moran and Skylar Miller) in the middle frame.

Trudeau scored again for the Thunder 2:51 into the third, with Garneau providing his second assist of the game. Aleksi Petrow, Etienne Crousie and Nicolas Poirier also notched assists in the game.

Derek Fournier made 28 saves in net for the Thunder, including two in overtime. John Massara turned away 25 of 29 shots for the Rockets.

The loss for the Thunder came in their first of two games at the Showcase on Sunday. They also faced the Connecticut Nighthawks in the final game of the night.
