TURNER — Maine School Administrative District 52 Adult Education has announced upcoming workshops for the month of March.

First Impressions Matter Workshop/Resume and Interview Preparation — 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6. A one-night workshop offering current tools, resources and guidance on effective resume writing. Helps prepare participants for interviews. $5.

Communication that Works — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 9. Practice communication skills rooted in nonviolent communication and some basic brain science that supports it. This training is interactive and students will receive skills that they can practice right away. $40.

Pottery Paint Night/Spring Flower Plates — 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March  12. A one-night class where students will “paint” a watercolor design plate. All materials, templates and instructions are provided. Plates (dishwasher and microwave safe) will be glazed, fired and can be picked up one week later. $15 plus $10 material fee paid to instructor.

Paint Your Pet’s Portrait — 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 13. Paint a wonderful portrait of a furry friend. The instructor will be drawing out the pet portraits ahead of time on canvas. All painting materials and step-by-step guidance will be provided. Leave with a finished pet portrait. $30.

MSAD 52 Substitute Training — 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 25. Learn about MSAD 52 school expectations, teachers’ lesson plans and assertive discipline. This course is one step in the substitute teacher application process for the district. A high school diploma is required, college degree preferred. Take a Hike — 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, March 27-April 10. Whether in Maine or in the Whites, hiking can be a positive outdoor experience. Led by a Maine Master Guide, sessions cover trip selection, planning, equipment, clothing, navigation, getting stuck overnight, common issues and more. Class includes a Saturday hike. $35.

Leavitt Youth Baseball Clinics — 9 to 10:30 a.m. ages 8-10, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., ages 11-14, Saturdays, March 23 and April 20. The third annual Leavitt Youth Baseball Spring Training Clinics. Designed to improve a player’s overall baseball skills. Drills in the area of throwing and hitting will be the main focus. Base running and other game specific skills will also be covered. $45.

ServSafe Food Protection Certification and Re-certification — 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. A nationally accredited food safety program for food service managers, directors, chefs, kitchen managers, dietitians, dietary managers and food service staff. Topics include food handling and much more. $165.

Maine Driving Dynamics — 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23. A five-hour defensive driving course offering all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. Course includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers. Receive a three-point credit on your driving record upon completion. Must preregister by March 19. $40.
