LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen voted unanimously Feb. 19 to enforce parking in the Treat Memorial Library lot. They also updated the winter sand policy to allow residents to take two five-gallon buckets of sand per storm, according to Town Manager Stephen Gould.
The library parking was discussed and it was determined that the lot belongs to the town/library and was given for use by the library, Gould said in an email.
“The board voted that we will now enforce parking in this area, including towing vehicles that have been left there for an extended time and the owners cannot be located as necessary,” he said. “We are giving local businesses time to adjust prior to enforcement so that they are all made aware of the new status.”
The board also updated the sand policy so residents can take two five-gallon pails of sand per storm, Gould said. The sand for residents is at the Transfer Station and behind the Police Station.
The policy formerly allowed residents to take two five-gallon buckets of sand per day.
Taking sand from the pile at the Public Works Department lot is not allowed because of safety issues with heavy equipment and trucks.
If a person is asked for proof of residency at the sand pile at the Transfer Station, the station card must be shown, Gould said.
