TURNER — Turner Public Library’s eighth annual Spring Seminar in Gardening will take place on Saturday, April 13, in the Community Room of Leavitt Institute Building in Turner Center. The event will start at 8:30 a.m. with free coffee and doughnuts, as well as sign-up for door prizes donated by Turner businesses.

“Beginning with Bees” will start at 9 a.m. with Roland Lajoie. The basic topics will include setting up a hive, maintaining a healthy colony and harvesting the honey. Lajoie is an experienced teacher with 35 years of beekeeping experience.

The second topic will be “Flowering Shrubs: Creating Forage for Pollinators” with Kristen Perry, horticulturist at McLaughlin Gardens, South Paris. She will provide an introduction to creating a successful pollinator habitat with illustrations of the best native shrubs to use in landscapes.

Plan to bring gardening questions and knowledge to share with other gardeners and “experts.” Donations will be accepted.
