A man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Saturday evening after he drove over an island at the intersection of Main and Lincoln streets in Lewiston and crashed into a tree and two parked vehicles. Mary Partee of Auburn said that while she and her grandson were walking on Lincoln Street, she saw the man driving “about 80 mph” over Longley Bridge and cut across the intersection of Main and Lincoln streets. “He almost hit two people walking across the street, and then he crashed into the tree,” Partee said. She said that the man suffered facial injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Lewiston Sgt. Robert Ullrich said the crash was likely caused by a “medical incident.” The vehicles were towed. Matthew Daigle/Sun Journal
