Extension group to discuss decluttering
ROXBURY — The Swift River Valley Extension Group will meet at noon Thursday, Nov. 7, at Roxbury Town Hall. Bring a bag lunch and dessert will be provided by Suzie Kim. The topic  will be decluttering, with member participation using guidelines provided by the Oxford County Extension Office.  The public is invited and new members welcome.

IHM Golden Age Club to meet

AUBURN — The next IHM Golden Age [50+] Club  meeting will begin with a social hour from 11-11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Culinary Arts Department at Central Maine Community College. A Thanksgiving dinner will be served at 11:45 a.m.  Call 207-576-4082 to make reservations by Nov. 8. Cost is $13.

A memorial dervice for deceased members will be offered at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Nov. 10, at Sacred Heart Church, Auburn.

 

Daughters of Isabella to have potluck supper

RUMFORD — St. Timothy’s Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Holy Savior Church Hall for a potluck supper with a monthly meeting to follow at 6 p.m.

Chairwomen are Sandra Gamez and Evelyn Bodemer. Committee members are Marcel Miller and Jolene Lovejoy.  The committee members will supply desserts. Daughters are asked to bring a hot dish, salad, veggies, fruit or crackers and cheese for the supper.

A memorial prayer will take place to remember departed members. Patricia Hopkins will be congratulated  on 60 years of membership with the Daughters of Isabella.

A Christmas party will be held Tuesday Dec. 10, at 49 Franklin. Anyone wishing to attend should sign up at the next meeting or contact Debbie Dorr or Lisa Doherty for information.

Local surveyor to discuss land title history

LISBON — Reuben Wheeler, professional land surveyor, will address the Lisbon Historical Society on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the MTM Center. Wheeler has been working in the greater Lisbon area since 1998 and has taken an interest in early land title history and how it has shaped local communities.

This talk is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the MTM building, 18 School St., Lisbon Falls. For more information, call 207-353-8510, or LisbonHistSoc@gmail.com.
