NORWAY — An Otisfield driver suspected of having a suspended license was arrested this week after a chase from Norway to Auburn, according to the Norway Police Department.

Lester Bartlett, 28, fled when Officer Holly Pullen attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation early Monday evening, police said. The chase continued south to Oxford, Mechanic Falls, Poland and Auburn.

“It wasn’t a high-speed chase, they just wouldn’t stop,” Officer Robbie Federico read from the police report. “The biggest concern (for officers) was the two passengers. The driver’s driving was dangerous to them.”

The vehicle finally hit a soft shoulder at the entrance of Brickyard Circle from Washington Street South in Auburn and stopped. No one was hurt, and there was no damage to the vehicle, police said.

Bartlett was arrested on charges, including eluding a police officer, operating after license suspension and violating bail conditions. He was booked at the Oxford County Jail in Paris and released on bail after his initial court appearance Tuesday, a corrections officer said.

Oxford and Auburn police also assisted in the chase.
