United Way holding Valentine’s Pop-Up Auction

FARMINGTON — United Way is having a Valentine’s Pop-Up Auction on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The one-day Facebook auction features gifts for Valentine’s Day.

Examples include $100 gift certificate, jewelry, baked goods and wellness products, dinner and movie packages and movie passes. Check out facebook.com/uwtva.

Marine Corps League to hold session

LEWISTON — The Marine Corps League Central Maine Detachment 810 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. All Marines, FMF Corpsmen and Navy chaplains are invited. Anyone interested in Marines Helping Veterans is also invited to attend. The group is in need of members.

 

Community Health Options opens grant process

LEWISTON — Community Health Options (Health Options) is making grant funds available to Maine-based nonprofits now through Tuesday, March 8.

Health Options awards grants through its Community Benefits Program (CBP). The spring grant cycle targets nonprofit programs and organizations working to promote wellness and community health. Preference will be given to nonprofits helping to treat and manage asthma, coronary artery disease (CAD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), depression, diabetes, hypertension and substance use disorder and to helping Maine people living with these conditions be their best selves.

Interested nonprofits are encouraged to learn more at the Community Giving section of healthoptions.org and to apply by March 8. Recipients will be notified in April.

 

MaineCF scholarship listings available

ELLSWORTH — The Maine Community Foundation offers more than 650 scholarships to support students pursuing studies in music, journalism, teaching, horticulture, technology, the arts and other fields. The scholarships are available for students who attend secondary, post-secondary and graduate schools, as well as nontraditional programs.

MaineCF’s scholarship funds are established for a variety of reasons, from honoring a family member to carrying on the tradition of “giving back” that helped an individual through college.
