In the substation matter, a five-member committee is working to develop a proposal to build a one bay station within a mile of the intersection of routes 133 and 106. The final recommendation will go to selectmen to vote on.

Residents voted 992-399 in November to authorize the board to spend up to $400,000 over 20 years to build a facility to house one fire truck.

The vote authorized selectmen to secure a site and provide for construction of the station, and enter into a lease purchase or finance agreement for up to 20 years. The cost of the project  is to come from taxes, not to exceed $20,000 per year.

The committee is also looking at the feasibility of using about 1-acre of town-owned property for the station. Serving on the committee are Select Board Chairman Jeff Bryant, Selectman Ernest Souther, Fire Rescue Chief Edward Hastings IV,  Assistant Chief Tyler Poulin, and resident Sheila Scanlon.
