This letter regards Sen. Collins’ remarks on the Senate floor after the acquittal of private citizen Trump.

Sen. Collins said she found him guilty, not by any single word he spoke, but by his failure to uphold the oath he had taken as president. Hypocrisy at its finest.

The oath that Sen. Collins took was to support and defend the Constitution. The founding document states that concerning impeachment, the Senate’s only power is to convict, or not, a president. See Article 1 Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution.

I would also like to note the refusal by Chief Justice Roberts to partake in this media spectacle. Shame on Sen. Collins; it’s like the pot calling the kettle black.

Censure is in order.
