DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the Androscoggin Hospice Thrift Store fundraiser,  Go for the Green! on March 17, we’re asking for donations of plant pots, baskets or other housewares during the store’s donation hours Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. We don’t need any plants at this time because we don’t have a place to store them.

The store is at 245 Center St. in Auburn in the former Roak Mall. For more information, call 312-5092 or go online https://androscoggin.org/hospicethriftstore/or www.facebook.com/AndroscogginHospiceThriftStore/ . — Cindy, Lewiston

ANSWER: I apologize, Cindy. The headline in Wednesday’s column should have read, “Plant containers meeded…”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I found a sterling silver ring with diamond chips on the ground during a trip to Hannaford in Lewiston the afternoon of March 8. If it’s yours, please write to Sun Spots and describe the very specific design. I will meet up with you to return it. – Evelyn, Auburn

ANSWER: If you would rather, you can also give it to customer service next time you go to Hannaford and the owner of the ring can fetch it there.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A trash can blew into our yard (unfortunately, not the one mentioned in the March 8 column) on outer Main Street in the vicinity of Premier Auto Sales. We haven’t been able to locate the owner. If you think it might be yours, please send your phone number to Sun Spots so we can call you for a description and return it to its rightful owner. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: Having trash cans blowing around is not only problematic, but downright dangerous. Thanks for being a Good Samaritan by retrieving that.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I sent an announcement to Sun Spots a couple weeks ago about an event for our organization, but I haven’t seen it in the column. Did you not receive it? — Kyle, Auburn

ANSWER: If your organization is having an event and you want to simply advertise it to bring in “customers,” please send it to communitynews@sunspots.com. However, if you need volunteers, monetary donations, or donations of items, please send your letter to Sun Spots. I’ll publish it here then forward it to community news.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have bought a few items recently, including an exercise bike and a hamster cage that only come with minimal diagrams and no written directions. I’ve talked to others who are having the same experience. What is going on? — Kristin, no town

ANSWER: I don’t know this for sure, but with the way goods are being made these days and where they are being produced, it probably makes more sense to those in charge of manufacturing to attempt to cover everyone who speaks and understands any language when it comes to instructing how to put something together. It’s assumed that diagrams and pictures are understood by everyone who speaks any language.

I’d like to add that those folks attempting to figure out how to put together items such as toys, metal gazebos, exercise equipment, etc. can sometimes be assisted by looking up the item on the manufacturer’s website or on YouTube.
