The Tri-Town Optimist Club, which serves Poland, Minot and Mechanic Falls, held its annual oratorical contest Feb. 25. “Healing the World with Optimism” was the topic.

Teachers Jill Mathieu and Ell Fanus helped students prepare a four- to five-minute speech, which they presented via Zoom to three judges.

Graceyn Camire placed first, Karlee Lothrop second, and Abigail Coughlin third.

The contest is designed for youth to gain experience in public speaking, perfect self-expression, gain self-assurance and improve communication skills.
