John H. Kennedy

AUGUSTA – Mr. John H. Kennedy, 81, a resident of Knox, formerly of Livermore Falls, John passed on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta, after a long battle with dementia.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1939 in Cape Elizabeth, the son of William and Helen Kennedy.

John was passionate about his career in the U.S. Navy. He often talked about his experience flying over Greece. He was dedicated to his career in the power plant at International Paper where he remained until he reached retirement.

He was passionate about antique cars, bowling, the military, vanilla ice cream cones and technology (his first computer was a trs 80 it changed his life). He loved animals, especially cats.

Above all, John was a family man. He would often talk of fond memories during his childhood. He would speak about his parents, his siblings, and the upbringing of his daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was tremendously helpful. He would not hesitate to lend a helping hand to those in need. John touched the hearts of many, and had an entertaining sense of humor. He will be sincerely missed by all.

John is survived by daughter, Carol and son-in-law Andrew Bryant; his grandchildren, Marissa Bryant and partner Tyler Cyr, Britni Bryant, Ethan Bryant, and Riley Bryant; his great-grandchildren, Logan Bryant, Owen Cyr, and Kennedy Bryant; his brothers Fredrick Kennedy and Charles Kennedy; as well as many close nieces, nephews, and close loved ones.

He was predeceased by brothers William Kennedy, Henry Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, and Alfred Kennedy.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, March 21 at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Interment at Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Rd., Augusta, will be held at a later date.
