Jerald R. Wade

SOUTH PARIS – On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, Jerald R. Wade passed away at the Maine Veterans Home, where he had been a resident for 17 months. He was born in Rumford on Sept. 16, 1933, the son of Chester and Hazel (Maxim) Wade, youngest of five children. His father died very young and he was later raised by his mother and a great stepfather, Clinton Draper. He graduated from Stephens High School in 1952, he married Mary (Irish) Wade in 1954. A year later in 1955 he was drafted into the Navy, served for two years and then transferred to the National Guard where he served four years. Upon discharge from the military he went on to work for Central Maine Power for 40 years. After his wife died, he remarried Elaine (Treadwell) Wade in 1983, she passed away in 2018. He was very active in the Lions Club, Shriners, Masons, and Poodunck Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, puzzles and his candy. He is survived by his daughter and husband, Penny and Steve Duguay of Byron; granddaughter and husband, Kelly and John Scott of Newry; grandson and wife, Matthew and Breanne Duguay of North Dakota; granddaughter and significant other, Jessica Duguay and Andrew McCann of Rumford; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Madeline, Grady; stepson and wife, Donny and Jewel Powers of Orono, stepson and significant other, Stephen Powers and Faye Thibault of Winterport; step grandchildren, Eric, Courtney, Matthew, and Seth and their families.He was predeceased by his parents; wives; stepfather; brother, Clifford Wade; brother, Sam Wade; sister, June Coffin; sister, Patsy Guy; stepdaughter, Sharon Hendry.Special thanks to the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris for their kind and compassionate care.
