WEST PARIS — Although we sometimes we may have to admit, April can feel like a winter month, there are so many signs of spring, not the least of which are the returning birds, and the sounds of resident feathered friends who change their song a bit heralding the season. Is it their music, the hope it evokes, or maybe their tenacity that moves us? Join us for Sunday worship services at 9:00 a.m. where one can be moved by all these things and more. All are welcome! Please note that we are following safety practices of wearing masks and social distancing. For the present we are not singing during the hymns, but we are uplifted by the music of Tom Coolidge.
April 4, Renewal in Unsettled Times led by The Reverend Fayre Stephenson. Sara Moores Campbell writes , “In the tomb of the soul, we take refuge from the world and its heaviness…. Grateful for the darkness that has nourished us, we push away the stone and invite the light to awaken us to the possibilities within us and among us.” On this Easter Sunday we will seek possibilities for renewal in the midst of pandemic.
April 11, Celebrating Earth Day led by members of the Congregation.
April 18, Jane Leade: Mystic Mother of Universalism led by The Reverend Fayre Stephenson. As one author wrote, “Jane Leade was not a woman to be pushed around.” A true 17th century religious visionary, Jane’s insights changed how many of us view human destiny. Join us on this Sunday when we consider Jane Leade and her woefully overlooked contribution to Unitarian Universalism.
April 25, I Give Myself Very Good Advice…led by guest speaker, Maryli Tieman, who will share a humorous reflection of quarantining in place with some shared recipes for springing ahead with spirit. Maryli Tiemann is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick. She is one of the founders of Brunswick’s Longfellow Days, a month-long celebration of poetry and the life of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. She was raised a Michigan Roman Catholic, floundered into Maine in the 1970’s, was surprised to actually be Buddhist, and continues to stumble among surprising gifts of nature, friendship and family.
