A cold front from the west will result in lower temperatures and about 1 to 2 inches of rain Wednesday night through Thursday, according to National Weather Services forecasts.
The most amount of rain is expected in Down East areas. The rain, stronger winds and an astronomically high tide could produce minor flooding along the coast.
In the interior areas of Maine, high temperatures are to stay in the 40s, according to NWS forecasts.
The rain and snow melt is expected to raise water levels in Maine rivers — some may approach flood stage, according the NWS.
The rain is expected to end Thursday, but river water levels will continue to be high on area rivers. The NWS doesn’t see the flood risk as being high, but it’s something to watch.
