Lorraine R. Labbe

AUBURN – Lorraine R. Labbe, 83, passed away April 7, 2021, in the late evening at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn after a period of declining health, following a heart attack on March 31. She was born in Lewiston, the daughter of Aime and Laura (Cyr) Rivard. She was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, class of ‘56, and was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica, Prince of Peace Parish.

Following high school, Lorraine was employed at the Louis P. Bail Oil Company for 21 years. In 1977, she became the deputy treasurer of Androscoggin County. She married Normand N. Labbe on Sept. 12, 1980.

Lorraine enjoyed travelling, visited Hawaii with a group of friends and made a trip to California to visit relatives. In her younger years she loved to ski in the winter and spent many summer weekends at Old Orchard Beach. Lorraine was an excellent seamstress and furthered her sewing skills by taking classes in tailoring, making beautiful coats and jackets. In the early years of their marriage, Lorraine and Norm spent a lot of time at their camp in Old Orchard, and also made several trips to the Madeleine Islands, Quebec Province, Canada. From 1987 to 2004, they wintered in Florida.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband in 2004.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Normand and Cheryl Rivard of Lewiston. She is also survived by many cousins.

The family would like to thank Helping Hands, who prepared meals for her for the past several months, making it possible for her to stay in her apartment.

They would also like to say a special thank you to her neighbors, Suzanne and Frank Ouellette, for all the help they provided, especially in the past several weeks. Also, a thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital and Androscoggin Hospice House for the wonderful care Lorraine received in her final days.

Committal services will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., in the Mausoleum Chapel of St. Peter’s Cemetery.
